In this AUDITION PREP intensive you will work with professionals in both vocal and acting, as they prepare students for a successful career in musicals, plays, and more. From mock auditions, to monologue coaching, to learning how to build a repertoire of songs; young actors will feel prepared to take the theatre world or audition room by storm. Ages 13-18. Wednesday, March 18th and March 25 from 6-9pm.
In Audition Prep, actors will:
Learn audition etiquette and receive personal feedback from working industry professionals.
Receive personalized coaching through song and monologues.
Refine vocal technique and work on their audition songs.
Learn tips on how to record pre-screen and self tapes.
Performers should bring an audition cut(can be instrumental tracks or a youtube link) and a monologue. If you would like, our instructors can help provide one.
Instructors- Rylynn Woods and John Murphy.
John Murphy is a professional musical theatre performer with extensive experience touring and working in New York and across multiple states. He has performed at prominent regional theatres including The Kennedy Center, Fulton Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, Argyle Theatre, Candlelight Theatre, City Theater Company, and Children’s Storybook Theater, appearing in productions such as Jekyll & Hyde, Spring Awakening, Ragtime, Into the Woods, and The Mystery of Edwin Drood. His career includes professional touring, sustained work in a wide range of rehearsal rooms and audition settings, and on-camera performance, including an appearance in Happy Gilmore 2. John trained in vocal performance at the University of Delaware and brings a performer-first perspective shaped by classical Italian technique and contemporary Broadway-style training with Katie Agresta (Jersey Boys). He worked under Constantine Maroulis and Michael Hollick as a director and has collaborated with artists including Shuler Hensley, Ben Fankhauser, and Tony Yazbeck, gaining firsthand insight into professional expectations, storytelling, and consistency at a high level.
Rylynn Woods is an accomplished singer and songwriter, known for her captivating performances and versatile musical style. A proud graduate of the Institute for American Musical Theatre, Rylynn has dedicated her life to her passion for music, bringing joy and entertainment to audiences far and wide. Rylynn has collaborated with a variety of bands, performing at weddings, private events, and local bars. Her dynamic stage presence and engaging vocals make every event memorable. Notably, she has showcased her talent on the luxury cruise ship, Seabourn Sojourn, where she performed for guests all around the world. In addition to her work in live music, Rylynn is an experienced musical theatre performer, having performed on many stages in the NYC, PA, DE, VA and MD areas.
